Our meeting on Sunday 3 August was the Big Saggar Reveal.
After being taken off site to be fired in a gas kiln, all our saggars were brought back to the hall and unpacked.

Our saggar bundles in the gas kiln |

Some bundles were tricky to undo but there was only the one casualty where the clay saggar was too tight around the neck of a bottle. |

After the kiln firing to 600 deg C all organics have burnt out leaving just the wire wrapped around the bundle |

The wire and the red terra siggalata gave the interesting colours here.

 |
combustibles here include seaweed and ferns - see below for results. The terrasig pulled off in places leaving some white patches. |
Random images from the big reveal day, with the results of some of the Raku at Ray's too.
 |
Some were in foil and clay - some in only clay or only foil |
 |
a bit of a polish brings out all the colour |

this little cat figure came out with some nice greens and black stripes.
